When We Have a Reliever

When We have a Reliever:

Today with our reliever I...
Year 8 did commenting on Gilberthorpe and SHS.
I did silent reading after I finished my blog post.

When we have guest in our class I should...
Be doing work that I've given and finishing It.
Not be talking to others when you haven't finish your work.

Next time I will...
Next time I will try to ignore them.
Next time I will try to do more work than talking.

The Dirty Water Experiment

Hi today in period 5 we did a experiment about filtration, Mr. Palmer split us in groups and gave us 1 bottle cut in half, the top side is turned to the other side. we put a filter paper in the filter of a bottle then put sand and rocks, after that we came to Mr. Palmer and showed our bottle, then he puts a water inside.

Examples are:

  1.  Teabag
  2.  Coffee plunger/coffee filter
  3.  Swimming pool
  4. Kidney

Materials

1. Filter paper
2. Sand
3. Pebbles
4. Bottle cu
5. Dirty water
6. Cup
7.Scissors
8.Funnel
9. Coffee filter

Process - ( use verbs or doing words in each step )

Step 1

Cut the bottle in half.

Step 2

Put the top half upside down inside the bottle.

STEP 3

Add layers of filter paper then add your sand/pebbles.

STEP 4

Get 1 cup of dirty water.

STEP 5

Pour dirty water into the upside down bottle/funnel.

Measurements

After we finished our experiment our water was still dirty, maybe next time we could put less sand to the filter paper so it won't go to the gap of the bottle/funnel.

Warning

Make sure that an adult cuts the bottle in half. This water filter is just an experiment and should not be used for drinking water.
Avoid using charcoal briquets, as these can contain chemicals you don't want in your water. Use the activated carbon for water purifiers instead.

Hauora Phyiscal well-being

Hi
Today I am going to show you what we did at Tuesday period 3, I was with Tai, Bryce, and Joshua, we picked physical well-being and we made a video about it. This is the video Tai said will just do push ups then we said yes then I called Tai and I said he you will be the P.E. teacher and me and Bryce will just talk then you come to the door and make us do push ups.

Freezing salt and water overnight

AIM: DESIGN AN EXPERIMENT THAT TESTS THE AMOUNT OF SALT THAT MUST BE IN WATER BEFORE IT WILL NOT FREEZE WHEN LEFT OVERNIGHT IN THE FREEZER.

When we design an experiment there are some important questions that we must answer first. This is part of the planning stage and will help to give us some ideas.

Record these answers on your blog.

The Plan.

Task 1; Read the question carefully and write the answer to these questions.

  1. What do we need to find out? We need to find out it how many salt we need to put in the cup.
  2. How will we find it out? Leaving a camera or go-pro inside the refrigerator.
  3. How will we record what we find? Using camera overnight.
  4. What equipment do we need for the experiment? Water, salt, and
  5. How long will it take?24 Hours.

The Procedure

Task 2: What are the steps that you will take to make the experiment?

List them in 6 steps.

Step 1;Grab cup.
Step 2:Pour water inside.
Step 3:Grab some salt.
Step 4:Put the salt in the cup with the water.
Step 5:Leave it inside the freezer overnight.
Step 6: Then look what happens.

The Process

Task 3: Draw on a piece of A4 paper the 6 steps that you will use to test the amount of salt in water before freezing. When we are making drawings in science  it needs to be labelled clearly, kept tidy and named. Once you have completed the drawing it must be photographed and uploaded to your blog.

In your drawing you will use:
  1. Beakers
  2. Water
  3. Measuring spoons or cups
  4. Salt

I was put in Taha hinengaro group and then they split us again in our group of 3-4 in each group and Tai, Alex, Gerald, was in my group. We had 10 minutes to plan what were gonna do in freeze frame then Tai think about basketball and he said to us to just do a basketball and our team agreed to him because we always play basketball.

When the timer rang the drama teacher pick us first to present. This is the photo that we did in the stage.
